Animal in a Box - Dance Game

This week we are providing you with a fun game to play in your dance classes. This is a game that my younger dancers have especially loved.

You start with a big cardboard box...and what kid does not want to play with a box? You will lay the box on its side and choose one student at a time to get inside the box. Before they get into the box, the student will draw a card (provided in our free printable today). This card will tell them what animal they should dance and move like when they come out of the box.

The student will then perform for the other students as their animal. The performance is not over until the student climbs back in the box. Then the rest of the class gets to raise their hands and guess what animal they were dancing. Repeat until all students get a turn, or until time allows.

This game teaches:

-narrative with beginning, middle and end

-self expression

-abstraction

-improvisation

-performance and performance etiquette

We hope you can have some fun with this one in your dance classes! Don't forget to take a video and tag us on social! @danceplandepot
